Daddy's Little Girl Poem by Victoria Dyer

Daddy's Little Girl

I look up to you; you are my leader and my light.
I make my decisions just to impress you
But whatever I do, I just can’t choose what you approve.
When I go left, you want to go right.
When I want to stop, you must have your way
Your judgment is strong but I will let you have the upper-hand

When I think I have it all right
And I believe I’m truly happy,
You go and tell me it’s wrong and you can never make it right
I change just to be on your pedestal and bask in your love
But how will I ever be as great as you
When I seem to make you all the more disappointed?

Dearest Daddy, you make me wish I could change
Making myself just perfect for you
But no, not this time, please don’t make me choose!
I love the way he makes me happy.
Let me be. Let me make you proud, daddy.
All I wanted was your approval.
