Dalai Lama Poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama, the Buddhist monk
giggles a lot
when interviewed on TV
he sounded like Readers Digest
platitude upon platitude
between giggles.
He walked a lot wore solid boots.
In the background, a Tom & Jerry show
with the sound turned off.
The impression was that of a village idiot.
Why does the Chinese bother with him?
