Daniel has new shoes
with lights that flash and dance
with each and every move.
He does not want to go to bed
he wants to wear his shoes instead!
Eventually he agrees
although somewhat ill at ease
that they may leave his feet
provided they have a special place to keep
where he can still see them as he sleeps.
And when he wakes he'll put them on
so that, as he dances to the dawn
the lights will sparkle just like him
as he and I arise
to see what new surprise
this new dawn will newly bring.
I wish I had new shoes like him!
My grandson has some too. They are really swish. I found this poem so lovely and moving. A grand storyline, something of everyday that one tends to take for granted and yet it is a lovely memory to keep. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX
I remember my daughter actually going to bed in her new shoes, a lovely write, ten from me, best wishes Lynda

David, I loved reading this poem, because it made me think of my son, now 24. When he was little, he always had to puy new shoes on the pillow at night, until a few days had passed and he'd probably forgotten that they were new! a lovely read! jane s x
