Darkness Poem by David Musoke

Darkness

Why does the light fade before my eyes?
My outstretched hands grabs the hem of her garment as she says goodbye
Resolution reached too late, the path of my escape is now blocked
Hope grows dim as the shadow of despair gains strength in the darkness

Shall the shadows hide me from the judgment of the darkness?
I lift my hands to wipe my tears but I only see him
Vexed by his countenance my strength fails me
All I pray for is another light that will never fade

I muster courage and stare closely at the face of darkness
That form bears my likeness
Am I my own darkness I wonder...
I am the darkness that consumed my own light....now I must face my own judgment
