Darkness Within Poem by John Henry Gillin

Darkness Within

darkness creeps through my room
like hands it reaches out and touches me
fingers like knifes it blades pierce my hart

While darkness grows, no light shows
creeping forward massing onwards
powerless to stop it, no where to hide

nothing left to do but fight
I will not go quietly in the night
I will not lay down with out a fight
its always darkest in before the dawn

with the sun there is light
warmth, hope lighting the way
unfortunately its only midnight.
