Day Dreaming Poem by Kimara Young

Day Dreaming

I wanted him,
So I took him.
In the middle of the sidewalk.
People passed
Unknowing, oblivious.
I saw it,
Felt it,
Loved it all.
The remained in the dark,
While we writhed in the light.
Heated, hurried.
We had no time,
Yet we made more.
But,
More is never enough.
Eventually, all must end.
As did we.
I was brought back to my senses
By a nudge from a friend.
Life continues.
He walks out of sight.
A sweet but already fleeting dream.
I turned.
And added myself to the conversation once more.
A movement to my left.
A glance
Another
Then stare.
Caught.
Trapped.
Entranced.
With a seemingly recurring thought.
I want him.
So I took him.
