Day Or Night? - Poem by Kanishk Dang

What is more beautiful...
Day or Night?

A peasant wakes up early at dawn
Faces mild darkness from all around
Down his field he hurriedly walks
Cheering the farm, sowing, watering,
Ploughing, threshing, he walks...
Pases the day which is bright enough
Later to his sweet home he returns
When it is dark and he cannot work
Tired with quaking feet and trembling back
Clears the kitchen and to sleep he lies
Understands the beauty of night and relieved
Under the starry sky, counts them twinkling

What is more beautiful...
Day or Night?

In the center of the desert man is
Frightened by the red and huge sun overhead
Waiting to quench his thirst and continue life
He spots an imaginary oasis ahead
Pases the day perspiring and desiring
Lastly under the open sky, he gives up soon
Then the dark sky cools him down
The beauty of night had arrived
Few coll dew drops from Heaven
Bless him and let him survive
Now, freezing cold breaks him down
And too do His creatures to drink his blood

What is more beautiful...
Day or Night?

Poet's Notes about The Poem

There was an exhibition to be held in our school and I was enthusiastic to present something attractive to all age-groups. And nature being favorable was my choice. These are actually two sonnets combined of beauty and its vile. It was put up with my Hindi poem chart and discussed by people. Written on 14/05/2013
