Daycation Poem by Airda Jones

Daycation

I have so much work
And projects to complete
I should be so busy
Or so it would seem
But just give me one moment
To relax and just dream...

Blue skies over a blue gem
That slowly lathers my feet
Warm breezes and smells
Of the ocean air are so sweet
Salty mists and echoing shells
Scatter from side to side
The sand grains squeeze
And fit my toes just right
The sun is heavier
Than I have ever known
And the heavy sigh
Is one of my own
Chatter and water rises
Feeling each of the perfect sounds
Watching the floating and flyers
And the careless drift of the clouds
Reaching out to grasp hold
The warmth of time
Absorbing all the rays
And making them mine
Chill setting in now
As the sun falls low
Orange and pink greeting
As the evening grows
Delicate rainbow of everyday
That looks exquisite here
Showing off its reflection
In the ocean so clear
Moon making its appearance
To begin its shift
Rays of blue silk
It's rich and hearty gift
Twinkles of diamonds
And gems so rare
Oh the sparkle and wonder
Nothing can compare
Such amazement in the dark
Such splendor in night
A wonderful black sheet
In full and endless sight
So settles everything
Time to make rest
So that I may enjoy
What all is left
And awake to new
Each morning unique
Another splendid day
To admire the mystique
Warm water covering the toes
As a soft caress
A gentle welcome
And nothing less...

Once more life begins
I must make haste
To hurry and catch up
With it quickening pace
But when time's slow
And does not race
Then I can sit back
And remember the taste...
