Dear Dad, Poem by Suraj Motiwala

Dear Dad,

How do I start to write down my feelings for you, dad?
How do I put them in words?
How can these lines befittingly voice my emotions?
How can they reach your heart?
Will these words, which haven’t even spoken of thee yet
convey my adoration headed for thee?
With the mere grip of the pen, my mind starts to marvel and my core spates with thy memories.
And with these memories in me, I can offer naught but gratitude for thee.
Pages have flooded with rhymes,
Many attempts have gone in vain,
For these words which want to reach you, tell me, how do I begin?
‘Cause I have no clue, what to do,
For all the love I fail to show, for the deserved reverence I don’t voice,
For all the moments I upset you my heart sets ablaze.

With these scarce utterances and with these vast indefinable sentiments, yet another failure I face.
Nevertheless this chance, I won’t let go, to tell you..
‘Dad, I love you.’
