Death Is A Slow Release Poem by Monkee Thompson

Death Is A Slow Release

Hate and violence on every street
The whole world explodes in one massive release
No individual can stop it
And no person even tries
Death is but a slow release
A life wasted in pursuit of happiness
A life spent with no purpose or reason
A youth lost and destroyed

Death is the slow release
That sets us all free
No more hate
No more love
No emotion to weaken the soul you left behind

Long ago when you were idealistic
You thought you could be the one
The catalyst for change
The saviour of yourself and your friends
Now you see how pointless it has become
Now you know the truth that nobody speaks
That death is the one true release

All around you panic
All around you flee
But still you stand and wait
Wait for the end
Wait for that release
You can't cheat fate so why should you try
All the good in this world
Will surely shrivel and die

And you alone know
That death is the one true release
