Death Of Wonder Poem by moon batchelder

Death Of Wonder

Rating: 5.0

i've seen the death of wonder,
curiosities demise.
and genius slain and plundered,
torn asunder and despised.
and inocense laid waste withiin
complacent compromise,
and rape and condemnation
wear the face of alibis.

i've seen the corpse that's been begun,
the child that hides behind it;
the damage that wont be undone,
the ravage of her mind.
i've seen the loss and forfeit of
a soul; imaculate,
now tossed upon the heap of those
bereaved and desolate.

i've seen the babes, the blooms unfolding,
striving to become.
i've seen them blamed and scolded
til they finally succomb,
unto the death of wonder;
end of curiosity.
their minds and spirits rendered useless
by society.

i've seen the culture of our times,
like vultures in the skies,
soar in ominous presumption
over freedom as it dies.
left starving in the desert waste,
our customs will afford.
i've seen the living dead
receive life's ultimate reward.
