Death’s Door Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Death’s Door

Come through the gate of death my child
Come through and take my hand
I’ve longed that we be reconciled
Within my Promised Land

Behind you now is all the strife
Behind is all the pain
Come through the door to endless life
Where love alone can reign

Enter the door to endless peace
Where laughter wears a crown
Where happiness will never cease
For nowhere is a frown

Be not afraid of what I say
Take heart remain secure
By walking straight my chosen Way
Your destination sure

Your heart reveals your life was true
My death was not in vain
Let all I am accompany you
And let my peace remain

I’m in the vale of death my friend
I’m always by your side
I’m with you through the very end
And at the great divide

I’ve loved you ere the world began
I’ve loved you in your prime
I’ll love you now as perfect man
Beyond the end of time

So hear the words of One who died
Take firm my hand in yours
Let’s rise together side by side
And enter Heaven’s doors
