Death Watch Poem by Sonya Florentino

Death Watch

Rating: 5.0

It's not that the world is getting colder
It's just me, getting older

Or that the nights are getting longer
Oh no! , it's just me being alone

It's not that life itself is getting shorter
No, no, no!

It's just me
approaching the bend

and realizing
how near the end!

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Again, the courage, and the ability to be so introspective. A great write! Doesn't the title infer that there's only the 'death watch' instead of 'life watch' as well. Your poem alludes to life going on, and there being more. Or perhaps it's a subtle paradox you created to make us think? ;)
