Deceived Poem by Lekë Loshi

Deceived

I recollect those days
As the sun’s rays were haemorrhaging with rage
Our friendship was aging
I came through that stage
My framed walls of doubt
Crumbled down and shattered
My soul was sickened by the bout
Of friendship, I was flattered
By the way you walked
The way you talked
And yet, as always in the end
I was the more deceived

The rain drops on the roof stealthily spattered
The sullen streets sunk in ugliness
The pendulous branches of gloomy tries hung tattered
As the rain gently pattered
Against my soul, against this friendship.
Oh in that moment I couldn’t help but conceive
That I was, and will always be, the more deceived

All you were was shallow
How could I content and wallow?
With a friend full of filth
Delicate love never escaped your mouth
Only deception, pure deception
And it was all due to my misconception
I was the more deceived
As always, the more deceived.
