Decomposed Poem by Emma Beverage

Decomposed

Rating: 3.0

Decomposed
my eyes closed
against the earthly vision
stretching before me.
Breathtaking view,
fantastic maze
filled with hope
and goals I thought
were within reason.
Soul from this view
should be flying with eagles.

Decomposed
hope falling like a robe
down on the ground
around me.
I thought I could fly.
I didn’t realize
that life would pluck
the feathers from my wings
leave me naked and lost.

Decomposed
dreams dead, dead
and decomposed.
Soul seeking to flee
out a narrow window
to escape those
who murdered my dreams.

Decomposed
unable to decide
like a deer
in headlights.
Watch the train.
Berating God
wishing to be
in Arizona singing
in California hiking
New Mexico biking
anywhere but here.

Decomposed
strike a match
door is latched
can’t escape.
await my fate.

Resurrect
Phoenix rising,
one form
among clouds.
Soaring free,
fresh new view,
new hope too.
Skin soaking in
the mists,
A kiss,
from God.
