Delicate Opal - Poem by Anne E. Kachline

Delicate opal
Nature's mosaic kaleidoscope
Aurora borealis
In a precious stone
Your bright parhelion rainbow
And misty lunar halo
Display the sparkling orient
That is yours alone
Marcasite's metallic luster
And pale mother of pearl
Fail to capture
Your transcending loveliness
Delicate opal
Multicolored phosphorescent
As October's neon sky
As the sun sets in the west
