Deontic Modality Poem by Leslie Philibert

Deontic Modality

You should stay
to see
a harbour full of seagulls

And not writhe
on a gurney
before glass faces

Or be locked
in a room full of porkers
eating importance

You should cherish
Valhalla and other words
in your notebook

Be free from
all the porn bats
with their leather and sweet faces

And bend all this
wire against the window
back into shape.
