Departure Poem by Cece Dev

Departure

Rating: 5.0

Pound me down
wash me out
make me your victim
because I am numb
that doesn’t mean I can’t feel
especially your thrashing chill.

Beat me up
slash me across
Just because I’m lost
in this world of my own
where I have someone to love
and someone to hold

As if I don’t know
I am alone.
And I’m trying to cope
while being pushed
down misery’s slope.

Only one can pull me out
lift the weights off my back
give me relief
after these attacks.
And that would be you,
black as night
cold as ice,
thick as fog.
with a cloak around your waist
a dagger on your back.
Only you can help me
carry me away
into the frozen ground.
where I can lay,
at peace
at last.
Though heartless and pale
I would be tranquil
I would be without the questions
without the disappointment.
Only this can be found,
if you will take me away.
And maybe someday
when even the ground is gone
I can be eternal
forever in this warm shell
that is departure.
