Depression Poem by Jennifer Ortiz

Depression

Depression is like being alone for years.
Depression is like that hopefullness getting crushed.
Depression is were you get stood up.
Depression is a hole that you can't get out of.
Depression is like getting caged up like a lion and unable to get out.
People say that you can get out of it easy,
But its not.
Wishing that people would understand you.
But they are just to busy with their own lives to bother with you.
Thinking, would you be better off gone?
You cover these feelings, so then people don't think you are weak.
Until it consumes you,
You can't handle it anymore.
You take the blade to cut,
It presses against you skin.
You watch the blood fall from your arm to the ground.
Wondering, why could have someone just have been there for you?
Just one person, that asked to see if you were o.k.
But its to late...
You are already dead inside.
