they call it a bloodless war
or a friendly fire...
sometimes even broadcasters conspire
not to utter a syllable,
and reporters stay tight-lipped.
yet, each day and night
explosions and gunfire is heard,
mortar blasts from unseen trenches
wrenches the area,
and black plumes of smock
from smouldering buildings
is seen over the area.
the staunch of blood and death
carried by the wind,
cannot be deceived.
