Devil’s Urge *

Driving through the murky waters,
My heart beating fast knocking against the door of my throat
I got through nevertheless,
My heart’s beat sounding like the wretched truck engine
When I set my eyes on the loot
Suddenly I felt the oil silencing the rackety chest
Pounding headache gone in an instant

Few days to come I will be the king of the shebeen if not the drug master
I will be the lady’s’ man and batman of the movie fairy-tale
What I have will be high and strange like the mystifying spells of the batman

Soon the urge will rise upon the broken spirit and loss of the high status
Blinded by the sweet taste of yesterday’s loot
The reckless urge driving my heart and mind
Subjecting fear to a dangerous race with the devil’s urge

The familiar smell, strong as the scent of the luxury of the lucky find
Now I will go for the jugular because by then
I had relinquished the steering wheel to the devil’s command
My vicious countenance scarring the victim before the fall of the axe
The victim may or may not be spared by the blow of the wind

These days and nocturnal roams, find and kill,
Will happen in the rise of the urge out of my control
The rough stuff rider, my devil chauffer
The urge to bulldoze my way through notwithstanding the crushing of innocent souls
Now the move is sputnik and the crash high and disastrous
I found myself in the dark waiting for the day of reckoning
The hammer has struck not in favour of me but for the favour of the innocent souls
