Did I Do That? Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Did I Do That?

I really hope
that you can move on
when in truth
it is what you need
because you're
looking for something
that i can't provide
how do you expect it to succeed?

Don't know what it's been lately
You would get a little crazy
comfortable enough for intimacy
but now it's a thing of the past
When I think of you
I get mad
Just when I thought to give you a try
when my heart had been eager to give
my all to someone not worth the time

love is blind
it is funny how at times
you'll do things that you've never done
you'll realize
it ain't all it's been hyped
until convinced ain't no fun
playing the role of a fool

You were so immature
and you have seemed so insecure
dialogue fell terribly flat
Ain't no way that you
could come back from that
But if I had to tell the truth
I've had this illusion of you
being someone chosen for me
smokescreen covered my eyes
made it impossible to see what's true

I really hope that you can move on
there is someone in this world for you
though hesitant interest been withdrawn
you are sure to find that something new
