Dirty Linens Poem by Suhad Salih Abubakar

Dirty Linens

I may be who I am
But do you know who you are?
I may have secrets
But you should have secrets too
Exposing who I am
May not interest the public
Neither will it benefit me
So why not keep to yours
So I concentrate on mine

Life may dance to your rhythm
I maybe lifes puppet
But does it really matter?
I maybe at lifes mercy
Someone may be at my mercy
The mercy I show to others.
Will life show me same mercy?
Will I need to tell you my struggles?
Will you have solutions to my woes?
So why not keep yours
So I also keep mine

Your tears maybe the result of joy
Mine maybe the result of pains
But tears did flow from both eyes
Do I tell you why I shed tears?
Or do you tell me the reason for yours?
Why not console each other
And endure lifes bitter sweet experiences
You have no reason to know my worries
I have no need to understand your pains
So why not keep yours
So I deal with mine
