The prickly prick of the pen
Ink tipped bayonet, black gold syringe
Mightier than the symbol of might
Brings gods to life, wrong or right
Declared man free without any eyes
To see the religion of greed nurtured lies
Resisting Europe's race against race
Slow and steady at a gentleman's pace
Question that 'freedom' that sorta made people
Clearly defining the nature of equal
Faded in waves and beams of light
A hobby's replaced a calling in life
Newspapers whisper beneath the Shot
So big a picture the words are forgot
Like a Hollywood scandal that ends a career
To read and write is no longer dear
Raped by scripts and faulty rewards
We've left old pens for modern swords
Teachers blame children, parents blame teachers
Some blame the government, others blame preachers
The 'Golden Rule' then proved true
You do unto others and they do unto you
Some will jot a little note to wear as attire
But after a page it starts to expire
So children learn what writings for
To grab a dictionary and declare a war
The prickly prick of the pen
Ink tipped bayonet, black gold syringe.
