Disguise Poem by Bill Smith

Disguise

Rating: 5.0

Would such snow upon retreat
Taking with it signs of feet
Blanket spread to watery grave
Stealing every mark we made
From bright white dawn
To transparent grey
As thaw washes
Frosted dreams away

Down gutters deep
Flow wishes crossed
Beside pavements bathed
Orange embossed
In orange glow
Die hopes once dared
As footsteps slow
To turning scared

Kerbside emotions
Held in check
Fight to the distance
Large to speck
Shadows fall
In the lamplights glow
Bravehearts weep
Cheeks to flow

Eyes speak volumes
The mouth will not say
Red horizon sparks
To brand new day
Padlocked gate
Path barred to smile
Search the wall
For freedoms stile

Tongue to taste
Fresh falling flakes
Bringing peace
To past mistakes
Foot to step
Fall to rise
Ready for
Love in disguise
