Displaced Poem by Susan Williams

Displaced

Rating: 4.8

.
I was displaced
I never saw it coming
There were no storm clouds on the horizon
No red skies in the morning in warning.
.
I never saw it coming
I was just suddenly displaced
I found myself in a Mahanaim
A long long way from home.
.
I do not belong here, I cried
I was made for a different place
This place is not my pace
This place is not my home.
.
I want to be back in yesterday
I want to be back home
They speak a different language here
And my soul is longing for its home.
.
.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
MAHANAIM.When he fled from Jerusalem and the rebellion of his son Absalom, David made Mahanaim his headquarters, and here he gathered his army that he sent out against Absalom and his army. It was while sitting at the gate of this town that news of the great battle between the two armies and the news of the death of his son Absalom reached him and he gave way toviolent grief (2 Samuel 17: 24-27)

Susan, I can totally relate to this poem. Many a time, I have felt that I am not of this place, nor time. And how I long to go home. When I had my near death experience, I had a very strong conviction that I was finally home. But it was not yet my time. Nor is it yet. Thank you so much for this timely reminder!

Richard. Part 1. Part 1. I have tried several times to write replies to all of your wonderful comments but I can only type a few words before the site goes flipping to another poem and then I have to find this poem all over again.

Part 2. Richard.. So I am forced to write a comment off site and paste it here on this poem which I will probably have to track down with my marvelous tracking abilities and steadfast determination not to be bested by PH or computer problems.

Part 3. Richard. Thank you for reading this poem and commenting on it. You may have noticed it is rather old- I am trying to save my eyesight by using some poetry oldies but hopefully goodies while waiting for appointment with eye laser doc.

The more effected exile is the exile of soul, as the poet here cried and screamed when she realized her real and true orbit is some where else, she needs as a brilliant poet to settle in her peaceful environment, and this important discovery of relationship with place tell us how original and genuine she is, really this poem is poignant and superb...10++and onto my fav list differently Congratulations you are so good
