Do You Still Love Me?

“Do you still love me Barbara Anne? ”
Asked an extremely strange Man
Someone who Barbara Anne was sure she’d never met

But just to be quite sure
She asked “Have we met somewhere before?
You’ve just got a face that someone would forget.”

He replied “It’s me the love of your life,
You said you’d be my wife
Back in August 1983

We were at St Marks junior Disco
I know it was a long time ago
But you still said you would marry me.”

She said “But I was only 10
I was but a young girl then.
Surely you can’t hold me to what I said.

'Besides did this even happen at all
This event I can't recall
Are you mistaking me for someone different instead? '

He said “I taped the conversation
To prove that it’s not my imagination
So I can offer you condemning proof.”

“I want to hear it right away
I don’t believe what you do say”
She said acting all aloof.

He removed his Dictaphone and pressed play
And it confirmed what he did say.
She did indeed agree to marry him.

She looked shocked at what she heard
She said 'This is just absurd.
I'm already married to my husband whose name is Jim.

The man he did reply
'Well I'm not going to Cry.
But I can't pretend my feelings are not shattered.

You said that you loved me first
And that bubble you now did burst
I thought that to you, our love mattered.'

'For goodness sake' She did reply
'There was never a you and I
I can't even remember you.

Now please leave me alone
And forget what’s on that dictaphone
And try and find somebody new.'

The Man he then did say
'But I've planned our wedding day.
I've even got you a stunning Dress.

I know you've got this Jim
But what he doesn't know won't hurt him
I promise you I am sure to impress.

'That is something I won't try
That's Bigamy' was her reply
I will not go to Jail for the likes of you.'

The man shrugged off this comment
He said he knew exactly what she meant
And he continued. “It’s also Big of Me too.”

Barbara Anne she had to leave
This thing she couldn’t believe
She decided she would have to run away.

She escaped from this strange man
And she decided she’d do every thing she can
To from now on watch everything she did say.
