Doll's World Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Doll's World

The doll
stays perfectly still
until the hand reaches for it
and then comes alive
in the little girl's mind

chatting and talking non-stop
until an adult comes into the room
and a voice smiles: 'Come Marie...tea! '
Forgotten on the floor
she waits expectantly for that little hand

to take her into her mind
and for the world to come alive again.
Now....all is still.
Only the clock talks to itself.
