Don't Be Thunder Poem by Mark Money

Don't Be Thunder

how can i regain what i never had?
don't be thunder.
all i want is that look on your face.

sometimes i wonder
just like you
but i don't go off shooting lightning bolts or anything.
keep calm
keep your distance
says civil defense
on civil disobedience.
changing times hangs a medal on it
and calls it progress
the pilgrims hunker down
with squaw bread and mottled corn
and say it's a bleak winter- -
this first one.

don't be thunder.
all i want is that look on your face to stay.
