Don'T Cry Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Don'T Cry

Don't cry!
Count sheep,
Or count the stars in the heavens,
Or gaze at the moon,
Crescent or as it glows, smiling full.
Count the rain drops, but
Don't you cry.
Count the blessings you forgot,
Count the hours, if you must,
Until sunset or
Sunrise.
Then you rise up from your tumbled bed
And count the wonders created for your eyes.
Count the birds that fly and count the
Caterpillars and the butterflies.
Count the bumble bees buzzing by
Count cloud formations in the sky,
Count the ribbons in a rainbow arched so high,
But don't you dare just sit there and cry!
