Don'T Harbor Anger Poem by Donna McCord

Don'T Harbor Anger

Rejoice in the light of this brand new day
It’s another chance for you to break away
From the smothering confines of depression and pain
And indignities that others have thrown your way

Don’t bind yourself to that anchor of anger
For each tug of the rope will put you in danger
Think not of revenge or express your displeasure
For forgiveness is virtuous and easier to measure

Speak softly and treat others as you’d like to be treated
For it foils Satan’s plan when his ruse is defeated.
No greater pleasure can we glean for the righteous
Than when we set out to please those who despise us.

And when we stand before God and our hands are clean
We’ll walk in His light and be proud who we’ve been
For no greater gift will ever be given to us
Than to spend eternity in the light of His love.
