Dreams Poem by William Williams

Dreams

Rating: 5.0

The ship was set, we left the port,
As we felt glad and free,
But never in my darkest mind
Did I think it would be the end of me,

My bunk was in the lower deck
Off over to the side,
And never did I think what I should do
Should ever the boat capsize,

Three days into the voyage
Out in the deep blue sea,
All alone in the ocean
Where no one else would see,

When the swells all rose,  A storm did blow,
And wild became the sea,
The ship then flipped, and in a fit,
Soon it had trapped me,

Water poured in up to my ankles
I then began to scream,
I hoped that the crew would hear
And soon come to save me,

But no one came
I soon realized as panic gripped my mind,
I couldn't stay calm, and soon I wondered,
Would this be the day I died?

Water soon reached my thighs
I then knew there was no way,
Before long my mind was drifting
Back to better days,

Back to thoughts of her,
Hand held within mine,
Wishing that there was a way
In which we could stop time,

My vivid memories
Of beautiful fields covered in deep snow,
And all of the strange and foreign lands
Of which I'd never know,

The water now flowing in was up to my two eyes,
I gasped in water with regret pondering my life
And entered in my final dream
Embraced by a warm light.
