Dreams Of Nights Poem by Kaz Kawasaki

Dreams Of Nights

When I dream
I dream of nights.
Of Parisian Spain,
Cafés glittering with lights.
Of lovers entwined upon notes
Of perfect violins.
Manned by quartets
Who intensify and compete with the passion

When I think of nights
I think of dark deserts
Bedouins roaming
The crowded dunes to patrol
Those sleeping in empty expanse
I sit on the dunes
I don’t mind the sand
And I think of the loved ones home
As I catch their kisses on the wind

When I think of nights
I think of the dance clubs
Draughts of forgetfullness
Drift through the haze
And lights that bring the clarity
Of insomniac confusion
Where regrets bring great stories
And stories bring unteachable wisdom

When I think of nights
I think about rooftops
Where suburbia’s future
Dreams and sighs
As they gaze upon vastness deep
Dust in the universe
Trying to find other specks in the universe
That always seem to avoid us

As the dawn rises
To chase away perceived gloom
I take one last look at the stars
And consider the galaxies that inspire
The dreams of the evenings.
