Drug Bust Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Drug Bust

Drug bust

Mohammad was in jail
He was an officer
His parole broken.

“My daughter was sick and…”

Told of how he entered
In drugs; that he dealt.

“My child sick, I in need
I applied for a loan; rejected.”

He spoke and mentioned.

“They had ways to approach.
Times and times I reproached.”

His words were on drugs, and dealers.

“Finally and in need when child was in deathbed…
When they came once again, how could I resist; no? ”

He went on and almost, shed tears and cried.

He joined them, and at nights, he let pass
The trucks…with drugs…

“They know well, are experts…”
He boasted of Afghans, Taliban
In how they work, grow, improve
The poppies and opium, heroine.

“In droughts they use the watermelon as ground…”
He went on; everyone surprised.

Truly, must think deep…
Corruption had base, deed
Need, greed…and exceed.
