Drunk (Revamped) Poem by Mandy MMR

Drunk (Revamped)

Your eyes are getting heavy
And you don't feel good
You get into your Chevy
But you don't if you should

You have a can of beer
And you're swerving on the road
You nearly hit a dear
When you're picking up a load

She doesn't see you coming,
The girl in the street,
Here you are humming
You kill a girl so sweet

The ambulance is rushing
To the terrible scene
The young girl's blood is gushing
She was only nineteen

The parents fill with pain
When they see you doing fine
You seem to have no shame
You just sit there and whine

How are you okay in mind
You just stole a life
So here you are, in a bind
Now you pay the price

It wasn’t your call
And you had to make it sour
You chose to take it all
And decide her last hour

You’re going to a place
Where they’ll see you to court
So I spit in your face
There is no last resort

And you don’t even care
Oh not in the least
You’re barely aware
That she has deceased

So I tell you now
This ain’t the end
And I don’t care how
But you will make amends
