Dry Your Tears Poem by Imafidon Mac Henry

Dry Your Tears

Rating: 3.5

Let them abandon us
like stones at the bottom lake
we sink deep in despair
with no lifesaver to hold
still we shall rise and float
on water like little
plastic balls.
.
Let them bury our heads
in grave yards,
shoot with blank promises
that tear our hearts
with sharp blades.
.
For our tears are broken
like unbound broomsticks
and our lives gimp by their 'bokos'
that brutalise with disgust
and bury our heads in dust
still, we shall rise as dust.
.
Let them suck our marrows
and squeeze the juice out
of our hearts flooded by tears
that trample our heads in cruelty
still, our dry bones shall rise.
.
Let them chase our joys
into forests of dismay,
and batter our hearts
with heavy blows of gullies
littering our roads,
with sorrow filled hearts
always remember, we shall rise again
like the eye of heaven.
