Edge Of The Universe Poem by Wakefield Mahon

Edge Of The Universe

I

Traveling here on the edge of the universe
I look across the stars
I feel the souls of a thousand saints
Guiding me on my way

Dreaming here on the edge of the universe
My spirit learns to soar
I sense the hopes and fears of lovers
And know that dreams come true

Eating here on the edge of the universe
My stomach opens wide
I drink the tears of fears of lovers
A taste that soon unsettles

Watching here on the edge of the universe
My eyes behold the beauty
Lovely snowing winter's day
The flowers on the pond's edge

II

Happy here on the edge of the universe
My heart is filled with joy
Here every day it is pouring rain
It soaks right through my being

Angry here on the edge of the universe
My heart is filled with rage
My enemies all gather around
They drink blood from my veins

Sadness here on the edge of the universe
A helpless child is dead
Hell, unholy rules the world
Now love is hard to find

Feeling here on the edge of the universe
With transcendental dreams
Passion rules, both good and bad
My heart will not rest

III

Yellow here on the edge of the universe
Happy like the sun
All is green, like softest grass
Covered in morning dew

Blue is here on the edge of the universe
Azure, like the ocean deep
Violet is here, like its flower namesake
Bathed in the setting sun

Red is here on the edge of the universe
Like blood now lit on fire
Skies are orange, like the harvest moon
Ascending in October

Black clouds here on the edge of the universe
Like a lover's heart now scorned
White rivers here, in torment they toil
Constantly searching for nothing

IV

Here I am on the edge of the universe
But I am not alone
The Triune God is standing by
My safety is assured

Spirit here on the edge of the universe
Conscience is His guise
The force that heals is here with me
My heart can find its rest

Jesus Christ on the edge of the universe
Resting on His throne
The Word, once flesh is now returned
The rest is up to us

God is here on the edge of the universe
Though all three beings are one
This place, the edge of the universe
Lies within your soul
