Elmira Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Elmira

Elmira

Elmira is mother
-brought in with effort
-of daughter to join her.
-Now, boring and burden;
-is wanted, unwanted…

Motionless, is like rock
-works as cook and a maid.

She; daughter wants to live
-her life and meet a man
-go out and have fun.
-She tells me: "Want you to be around
-as father; with your warmth…"

I, here, read poem;
-a man writes to woman…
- (His Ex or someone else!)

Look in books; see mirrors,
-monitor is mirror
-and the mug is mirror
-as is the white plate
- (cheese in it, pits of dates.)

"Crazy! "
"Crazy! "
"Crazy! "

Shout jokers and writers
-I feel the "Dakar Doldrum, "
- (Man's trip is too short…)
-Ginsburg in weariness.
-He is rights defender.
-Yet, he sides with Tarzan
-seeks young boy; a local
-for sex; to have fun!

"Believe it…"
"Believe it…"
"Believe it…"

I hear the echo of my voice:
"Believe in…"
"Believe in…"
"You, being different; "

Hear my reflection; do hear:
- "Don't blame things on Ex.
-Look at you, inside-out
-and then at Elmira.
-Do you see the bad one? "

Why the hell?
Who the hell?
What the hell?

I hear! I hear! I hear:
"You are the different! "

Feel breeze
-moves curtain
-same as in the poem
- "loo-Loo" of Sepehri,
-in which kid fights with
-fear in, the carpet's flowers…

Memories arrive with
-the life lived in Shiraz
-and that night
-Ex slept next to me.

Our floor trembles.
-Earthquake awakes me!
- "What was that? "
-I reply when asks me:
- "Is nothing, don't worry…"

She has heart of chicken; is slave to ear.
-So, next day heard others and raise hell!
- "I listened to others…
-they had been good mothers,
-hugged their kids, ran away…
-…but not me…our daughter…"
