She carried sunshine with her.
With giggles my heart she’d fill.
Sometimes in quiet moments
I hear that laughter still.
I turn to find no sunshine.
I search to see her smile,
To hear her childish singing
With sounds that would beguile.
Beneath this load I struggle
Oh how can I go on.
This darkness here inside me
Will never see a dawn.
I founder here in shadows Lord.
Do You know of my plight?
I need your hand to guide me now,
For Emma was my light.
For up there in Your heaven
There must have been a space
That wasn’t filled with sunlight
A dim and empty space
That Emma’s smile now brightens
And fills with radiant mirth
Like all the souls she gladdened
While here upon this earth.
Please Jesus grant me healing.
Send rays of hopeful grace,
And give me golden memories
Of Emma’s smiling face.
I know that she is with you.
Please hear a mother’s plea.
Till my time comes to join her
Just hug her close for me.
