End Of Men Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

End Of Men

End of men

My friend is Afghan and Shiite
-for coffee I met him once again
-his comments remain all the same
-as we met for first,
-Mary go round is repeated,
-for second, every time, to today…

Like most of the immigrants from there
-he observes the changes he faces
-most of all his wife's-behavior
-relations soon after arrival
-things change and go to bedtime
-nagging and complaints, rejections
-then may come threats, reflections
-most of the immigrants are divorced
-to hell go families; with records

In times I feel him as mad; crazy
-once I think, I heard him claiming:
-women are united and working
-on killing the men, lawlessly
-leading the world into anarchy

Look at him wordlessly and silent
-he plans reaction for action
-read the hate in him grounded
-his talks show he feels in cages
-entrapped and beaten like tiger

I have lived among them; I can see
-went to and found Rabiah Balkhi
-a female Sufi who was killed
-in boiling water, in bathtub
-just because…
-sympathy, empathy and the shame
-I sweat…

Then look at report, CBC's
-on women, Eight of March
-see a sign; and it reads:
-"Future is female" makes me think!
