~Enemies~

She, is a woman to be
Dressed in the night
Moves through the crowd
Carrying all the stars light
The sky doesn't shine as she moves the earth

Though, her moon is full
As is the pride that's swallowed
Giving birth to what takes place
This story you will follow

She's tempting, you're pretentious
Pretending at your affections
This pretense is so infectious
Holding onto what is helpless

Entranced in her dance
Your eyes become slaves
The mind that is a playground
Where nobody behaves

Thrown caution to the wind
Watch it blow your house down
You knew how this would end
Released the demons from within

Satisfactions, unfulfilled
Like the hole you dug to live in
A decorative shallow grave
For the man you hide from within

She sells her soul to make a way
He pays the toll and paves it for her
She dies a little day by day
He lives a little in those moments

The blind that lead the blind
For the road is full of plenty
Pictures falling out of frames
Broken dreams now only memories

Poet's Notes about The Poem

In times past I worked doing promotion for different clubs and I've been witness to many things. I've watched some prominent figures brought low by their hidden desires. I've seen young ladies without any guidance make some heartbreaking decisions. This is one of those stories.

So sad Allan, I do not see the strength to remain in control in many younger women today...it saddens me. As if they do not realize what they actually look like in the attempt to fit in....what is being thought and said of them when that is the only thing they actually hold as important. (Report) Reply

that second to last stanza is excellent- - she dies a little day by day, he lives a little in those moments - that's good. (Report) Reply

This sounds like the relationship between a stripper and the client that falls for her. Neither can be what the other wants. It is an age old tale but you spun it beautifully. Her character definitely dances off of the page.

I loved this verse, you always compose double entendres with such ease - I'm a bit jealous lol.

    Though, her moon is full
As is the pride that's swallowed

Is this your way of saying her butt was as big as his pride? xD sorry but that cracks me up lol.

    Though in the line:
    Your eyes become a slave
    you could turn it into
    Your eyes become slaves

And I'm not sure why but I also love this next verse. Not only because it describes how the situation came about so well, but also because it just reads beautifully.

    She's tempting, your pretentious
    Pretending at your affections
    This pretense is so infectious
    Holding onto what is helpless

Anyway Great write as usual~ ^^ (Report) Reply
