Epiphany Poem by Smoky Hoss

Epiphany

There's a suddenness
in the dark.
A separation of body from heart.
A distance of the soul...
a seldom seen effrontery,
like cold drops of rain
running down my face,
then gone, leaving only
an intense chill,
mingled with longing.

Who will warm this heart of mine, and
lovingly place it back inside
of me?
Who will show me the sunrise
clearing away the dark rain?
And who shall sing the echoes
of the song in the light of day
where magic meets mystery?

hey, smoky! i find this poem lyrical and intriguing. don't know that i've had this experience, but i know moments where things have stopped, motivation or forward movement comes to a halt, and i wonder, reach out with my soul, for what's next. such is what i try to capture in my recent poem " gloomy winter day." and what is there to do in such moments but wait, trusting an answer, a suggestion, will come? -glen
