Erasing Everything Poem by Joy Howarth

Erasing Everything

Making this work as though it seemed
Not realizing the lost countless memories
All the things that I could see
The holes in the hearts cut out of stone
Deceit gave no hope for the hopeful
Bewildered thoughts craving bitter loneliness
Caught by weight driven into my chest
Twisting the words of carelessness
my face buried deeply into my hands.
The screaming conscious pulling away into
the seeming beautiful lies
No one was to glimpse the madness of it all
Pushed aside love of what meant most but
Only a turncoat for hate to burn through my mind
Dragging the person of what seemed to be true
Sworn to cease the unbearable depth of callousness
Trashing merely all that was behind
and the endeavors left to unfold
Searching for much more than what determinations could offer
Battles of minds in denial; tempted to push the old into the new
Given and thrown of thinking it was made out to be.
Erasing everything to its ends, only remnants on the ground
The last of the struggle fought and what’s left to see
Prolonging tragedies of a promise now unbound
