Escape At Last Poem by christopher bagley

Escape At Last

Screaming thoughts permeate the opaque recesses
of my psyche slowly tearing the fabric of my reality
monsters lurk behind every door – hiding within
every shadow – I have no escape – alas save one
beauty and serenity now no longer a part of my existence
off in the distance I can still here mommy laughing as
daddy’s hands deliver to reality the vilest of fantasies
yelling at the top of my voice yet nobody seems to hear
help me somebody – please - why do you not come
endless wails of agony permeate the darkness as the
lingering desire for peace is overtaken by the unspeakable
pain, fear, despair, and agony chaotically controlling my
muddled thoughts throughout the night and most of the day
escape at last - for now finally - the voices will be muted forever
