Eternal End Poem by Saikat Poddar

Eternal End

The Rays dawn
Bringing new Hope;
The pale yellow
Which was so green
Till yesterday
Also lights-up
Warming-up to their embrace.
The Dew drops
Make their silent gradual disappearance.
Majestic and Mature
It has withstood many a Storm
Perhaps few could endure
While shielding its brethren.
Its elan
Of heydays
Is resplendent
In the glory of its past.
The Koel
Often took its shade
While singing its heart out
In hot summer noons;
And the Caterpillar curled below it
When rains lashed
On its way to metamorphose
Into the hope of a new life of flight.
Will my LEAF get a dignified burial
In its journey
Towards an eternal end?
Perhaps not.
Nature has its own ways!
