Everlast Poem by G J Salgado

Everlast

I brought you home
Cleaned all your wounds
I sang you a song
Sucked all of the poison within
I am the one you've chosen

Kept you safe from the dark
Until you became alive
As you opened your eyes
You were my everything
Then you grew angel wings

Isn't it just like you thought
I tasted your blood
Whenever you fell asleep
We've seen where it all began
Until we saw the end

Then we both realized
That we've never been
Any more alive
I watched as you were born
Upon my very soul untorn

Two hearts were one
Unforced but untamed
There as we lay
Untainted by our weakness
We asked for forgiveness

I see your soul for everything
That it could ever be
You saw the life within us
Which my eyes had seen
For the first time in centuries
