Every Eye Lashed Wish Poem by Timmy Tubbs

Every Eye Lashed Wish

Count every eye lash ever wished upon
Reverse the order of the wishes and wish again
Same results shake trembled hands in empty stands
I could point to everyone and where they fell
And I know the wish darling
But don’t worry; I won’t tell

I find myself peering at strands of your hair
Twisting it around my fingers as I drown in my own despair
Knowing you are always right keeps me calm
It’s level ground for when I question myself
I pick out possible blue ribbons in old arguments
But knowing you are always right makes them all wrong

I thought I was better, but it was you wasn’t it?
I thought I could stop your gaze at my lashes
But your eyes burned a hole in the back of my head
I was left silent and shaken instead
Wishing I could hold you so selfishly
On that old bed

We lay still shaken from the pain
You’re heart desperately trying to convince me away
I’m left standing agreeing with your ways
Nothing compares to pictures under trembled behind
And mistakes my brain made and the price my heart must pay
