If I could go back and
do it again I would change nothing
is something I would now never say
How well you blended
with perfection
the simplest of designs
an unassuming complexion
What others said about everyday
I accepted, a default,
without question, my plain sight
the plaything of digression
Regret remorse fault
gifts only time can impart
something now I am able to say
Regret remorse fault gifts only time can impart something now I am able to say......so touching and true. Beautiful poem amazingly shared. Thank you for posting.
This poem had me thinking about regrets and I think as I have aged I no longer wish I had done things different as those thoughts are fruitless. All that we seem to have initiated in the past has not occurred in a void anyway as others have responsibility too in the choices that are made at the time. If I went back and changed a few things I wouldn't have met the love of my life or rid myself of unpleasant abusive people.
Simone, thank you so much. I do agree. But I have also found that regrets do serve a purpose. I, too, wouldn't change the past....even the negative. But I've found that regrets can help with coping with the present and maybe future. A past regret can help me make different, and hopefully better, decisions for the future.
i regret nothing! i have no remorse! ! I've never been at fault OR found fault! ! ! i lie a LOT. bri :)
