Excited Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Excited

Excited

Under the tree was our bed and grapes overhead
Night was as it was every night; oh how nice
We huddled rat-child-like siblings and cousins; looked to skies
Milky-Way headed south to Mecca;
Small-large millions of stars,
Blinking with sparks
Who knew satellites?
We were kids, four or more; innocent, unaware
Here there, one would run like stone off a sling
(Out of sight)
What we knew of comet?
Mom said though: "A star dies with each dead."

What a world; all around pitch black; bitumen
Like the hair of the girls; like their eyes
Asians', Middle East
These devils, great thieves; then and now
Stole heart; do still; in the sky, on the ground

I recall how once I
Small boy in Hammam,
(With my mom; women nude)
I saw her; shy in cover; she wore white
Her breasts two walnuts
Eyes at her I stepped
Soap slid, hard I fell on the floor
Pool of blood; women's shout:
"He's a man; take him out."

Excited I am now; robot hugged
Like then now to goat, lamb, I smile

They tell me: "It landed on comet; stood firm."
To you us all I cry: "Congrats-Congrats."
I had changed in school; I see now
Excited with comet is our palm.
I see it phantom like, it is death...'the comet'...
