Ex-Court

She was my actress,
Read and heard, delivered,
The role as required,
Was ear till she was clear.

Loved the horses and farms,
But left them both, behind,
Spoke firm, with power,
Overheard complaints:
'For us, she brings shame! '

I found her logical,
When spoke about God,
And priests, church, Bible,
Rights of men and women.

'What is this concealment?
Did I choose my gender?
How could I be a sinner? '

And went on,
And went on.

'Who tells me to cover?
The priests?
Prophets?
Who says is from God? '

'Did he not make me so?
(A girl to have no rights,
Thanks to the patriarchs!) '

'They say is from God,
Who witnessed?
I am sure they are lies! '

Perfect makeup artist,
Model of photography,
Ran away from home,
Landed as an Ex-court,
Ended used and abused!

Succinctly profound! A very thought-provoking poem that is so greatly needed in these very confusing times!
